Who We Are

Who We Are

We are a team of high school and college students in the Triangle area interested in environmental justice and the issues that surround it including criminal justice reform, equitable housing, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and accessible transportation services.

Our History

Our History

Seeing a need for a space for young people of color & underrepresented communities to learn more about environmental justice, the Durham Youth Climate Justice Initiative was founded by Elijah King, Aissa Dearing and Madeline Parker in Fall 2019 as a subset of NCWARN.

Our Mission

Our Mission

We connect vulnerable communities to advocacy opportunities -- including roundtable discussions with public servants, public demonstrations, and community forums. We consider the needs of young people in planning our events -- so we often provide transportation stipends, food, and other incentives to make our events as representative of our communities as possible.
